For close to ten years (starting in 2014) we researched, cataloged, and photographed artifacts and archives at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California.

For the archaeology department at  Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California, we sorted, cataloged, and photographed artifacts.

Restoration and maintenance helpers: Historic ship

At the Battleship Missouri Memorial in Pearl Harbor, we helped to preserve and restore the historic ship. Dick participated three times, and Anna once.

Preparation and curation assistants: Cultural artifacts

For the Anasazi Heritage Center in Dolores, Colorado, prepared and curated artifacts of the Ancient Puebloan Peoples.

Preparation assistants: Paleontological artifacts

For the Big Horn Basin Foundation and Wyoming Dinosaur Center in Thermopolis,  Wyoming, we prepared dinosaur bones for scientific investigation and display.

Record indexers

For FamilySearch (Genealogical Society of Utah), we did genealogy record indexing.

Gardeners, educators

For the Friends of Deer Hollow Farm in Mountain View, California, we did gardening and prepared educational materials for school groups.

Excavation and curation assistants: Paleontological artifacts

For The Mammoth Site, in Hot Springs, South Dakota, we excavated and sorted wooly mammoth bones.

Volunteer historian

For the Skagit (Valley, Washington) Alternative Futures Project, Anna researched and recorded information for an Earthwatch-sponsored project on fishing resources and activities.
