What is the Town Center wetland?
Origin of the Town Center wetland
Development of the El Dorado Hills Town Center began in 2002. One of the first projects was the construction of two large ponds and a bridge over the ponds on what is now Town Center Blvd. Each pond featured a fountain.

In 2025 the Town Center has matured into an integrated 10.7-acre open space that includes wetland areas, a scenic pond, and walking trails, creating an urban park environment within the commercial and mixed-use development.

The centerpiece of the Town Center's open space is a picturesque pond with fountains and waterways that serve both aesthetic and ecological functions. This water feature is surrounded by mature landscaping, including 130-year-old olive trees, creating a tranquil environment for visitors. The lakeside dining area allows visitors to enjoy meals with serene water views.
The open space includes wetland areas that provide valuable wildlife habitat within the urban setting. These wetlands support local ecology and contribute to the area's natural character.
The preserve features well-maintained trails and pathways that wind through the green space, making it accessible for walkers, runners, and cyclists. The main walking loop is approximately 0.7 miles, providing an easy route suitable for all fitness levels. These paths connect various parts of Town Center and offer a peaceful setting for outdoor recreation.

With its lush greenery and picturesque pathways, the Town Center open space functions as a vibrant urban park in the heart of El Dorado Hills. The environment is described as inviting and serene, featuring broad public plazas, fountains, and open lawn areas alongside the wetland and pond features.
The Town Center's open space serves multiple purposes for the community. Residents and visitors use the area for leisurely strolls, jogging, and outdoor relaxation. The space integrates with the broader Town Center development, which includes shopping, dining, entertainment venues, and hosts community events like concerts at the amphitheater and farmers markets

The combination of wetland preservation, recreational trails, and urban amenities makes this open space a distinctive feature of El Dorado Hills Town Center, providing both ecological value and community gathering space within a master-planned commercial district.
