Messier 44 (M44), commonly known as "The Beehive Cluster" or "Praesepe," is an open star cluster located in the constellation Cancer. M44 contains around 1,000 stars packed within a diameter of about 22 light-years. The cluster is located approximately 610 light-years from Earth and is estimated to be about 600 million years old.
