M 31 Andromeda Galaxy

Messier 31 is a spiral galaxy that is the closest galactic neighbor to our Milky Way. It contains about one trillion stars, about twice as many as are in the Milky Way. Messier 31 is heading toward our galaxy, and the two will likely collide in roughly 4.5 billion years. No cause for immediate concern! It is currently about 2.5 million light-years away.
